Our Game of the Week did turn out to be as hotly contested as advertised, with TC and his Odyssey pulling off the narrow upset against Clay and YourMom’sMailMan 95-92, after Clay’s streak of increasing performances finally came to a close, in part due to Deebo Samuel’s inevitable injury that came this week. With him being out for a few weeks, Clay’s production will have to come elsewhere. TC, who is once again carried by his Vikings DEF, continues to get some love from Aaron Jones, who has been hot in back to back weeks. TC has the highest scoring team in the league this season, at 118 PPG, the highest scoring DEF in the league at 19 PPG (next highest Joe’s Jags at 13.4 PPG), and the highest scoring #3, #4, & #5 players (Javonte Williams, Dak Prescott & Juwan Johnson). So while he does have Jonathan Taylor, his production has been wider than any other team by far. Scary stuff.
Elsewhere, Hunt’s freshly power-ranked #1 0-4 squad did live up to their new rank, scoring the most points by any team this season, and stomping Chris 149-112. Hunt has 22+ points from four different players this week and nobody scored less than 13. Crazy production. Perhaps some of the latent scoring and subsequent revival has to do with Hunt finally firing his offensive coordinator, as this was only the second week he’s played Matthew Golden, who is currently the WR9. Between him, King Henry and Brock Bowers, that is just not a team I would like to play moving forward. Chris falls to 2-3, but certainly needs to be respected, as he actually has the 3rd highest scoring over the last 4 weeks.
Our meeting between the two 3-1 coaches, Ewoldt and Jesse wasn’t super close, as the wheels continue to come off the Hype Train, just as well all knew they would, and Jesse would win 112-98. Jesse is top 5 in scoring, top 5 in all-play record, and has the best standard deviation of any team in the top 8 of scoring. High scoring and consistency wins you games, and at 4-1, his team is certainly poised to make a deep playoff run.
Puka’s returned last week, and Jord finally returned this week as The Cadets of Nightmares and their captain went off for 133 points and without a kicker no less, their most of the season, and first time scoring over 100 since week 1. Jameis Winston and Bucky Irving BUSTED for 59 to go with Puka’s 38, and the Cadets put the belt to Nelson’s heinie, who only mustered 63. Nelson’s performance is a head scratcher, after he’s fresh off posting 144 points last week. But that’s the IFL for you.
That’s all for this week, folks. Oh wait… I’m forgetting something, aren’t I? What is it? Hmm… Oh yeah, Drew lost. LOL
The Cul-de-Sack falls down a peg this week, as X-IA begin to separate themselves as a tier above.
The Commish’ rights the ship and remains ahead of the pack.
